ARCHIVES MISSION
The Archives is responsible for gathering, preserving, organizing, and providing appropriate access to records of enduring value which document the primary pastoral, sacramental, and operational functions of the Archbishop of Seattle and the Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle.
The holdings of the Archives are preserved to maintain memory of our ministerial and corporate activities, enabling continuity in decision making and policy formation, providing protection and support in litigation, and facilitating historical research.
The Archives also assists parishes, faith communities, and schools in the creation and administration of archives and records management programs and in the practical application of policies and guidelines relating to Archdiocesan records.
LOCATION
The repository and offices are located in the Chancery on historic First Hill, one block north of St. James Cathedral. For more information, please see Staff, Hours, and Directions.
