In 1906, the Reverend J. B. Boulet, pastor of St. Joseph Church in Ferndale and surrounding missions, began publishing a monthly pamphlet for Catholics in the Diocese of Nesqually.  As a pastor in the diocese for many years, Father Boulet was aware that many Catholics had little exposure to Catholic educational material.  In an effort to encourage, inform and educate, Fr. Boulet published Good Tidings, A Monthly Periodical Devoted to Giving Valuable Religious Information on Catholic Faith and Practice, and Well Adapted for Sunday Reading. Especially in Sections of the Country Seldom Visited by a Priest.

Fr. Boulet also helped to educate the people of the diocese by publishing Fr. Blanchet’s "Historical Sketches," and Fr. Brouillet’s "Authentic Account of the Murder of Dr. Whitman" (for information on Fr. Brouillet’s article, see the Whitman Massacre Lesson Plan).
