OFFICIAL DECREE
October 8, 2009
To Our Brothers and Sisters of the Archdiocese of Seattle
The responsibility for the care of that portion of Christ’s flock which has been solemnly committed to the Archbishop of Seattle requires that parishes be constituted or changed in order to more fully bring about an increase in Catholic life, provide for the good of souls, and promote the glory of the Most High God.
Moved by this consideration and by the desire to provide pastoral care for the faithful who frequent the downtown Seattle area, we now provide for the establishment of a new personal parish within the Archdiocese.
After having heard the Presbyteral Council and having consulted with others who have interest in the matter, we have arrived at a decision by carefully considering all the factors involved. I hereby erect and establish the following personal parish and grant to it and its duly appointed pastor all the privileges, honors, and prerogatives which, by the Law of the Church, are enjoyed by other personal parishes and their pastors.
CHRIST OUR HOPE
in
Seattle, Washington
is hereby established on the 28th day of October, 2009, the Feast Day of Saints Simon and Jude, apostles of Christ, who preached his message of hope throughout Egypt and Spain. The faithful who register and/or regularly participate in liturgical services at Christ Our Hope are members of this newly erected personal parish. To them and to the parish will accrue all the rights and privileges as well as the duties and obligations set down in the universal law of the Church, local statutes, and approved custom.
All things to the contrary notwithstanding.
Given at the Chancery Of the Archdiocese of Seattle, Washington
This 8th day of October in the year of our Lord, 2009.
Most Rev. Alex J. Brunett
