Equipment List | What to Expect

Your journey is full of excitement at rustic Camp Hamilton. 570 acres of forests, an 80 acre lake, and countless scenic vistas help you grow closer to God. Swimming and boating on the lake, archery, hiking, and climbing the wall are just some of the adventures you and your cabinmates help choose.  Learn new skills or  sharpen skills you already have with the help of your
counselor. At night sing around the campfire, sleep under the stars or go on a night hike. You'll have a week full of fun at Adventure Camp or one of Hamilton's specialty camps.

 

ADVENTURE CAMP - (GRADES 4–8)
Adventure awaits you with an exciting twist on traditional camp activities. Gain a new appreciation of God's creation through nature activities, camping skills and exploring camp.

MOUNTAIN BIKING
Get ready for an exciting session rushing down trails and roads on a mountain bike. Learn the basics of safe riding while enjoying some great trails. Experienced counselors challenge campers to reach individual and group goals. Campers must bring a bike an helmet to camp.

MT. BIKE 1 (GRADES 5-6 Boys, GRADES 6-8 Boys, GRADES 6-8 Girls)
No previous experience required. 1-3 hours riding a day.

MT. BIKE 2 (GRADES 7-8 Boys, GRADES 6-8 Girls)
Intermediate to advanced riders only. 1-3 hours riding a day.

LINK - (GRADE 8)
Campers link leadership, service, community building and personal growth to their camp experience. Service at camp as well as a project in the community highlights this program.

GUITAR SKILLS - (GRADES 6–8)
Have you always wanted to play those camp songs you know and love? Bring your acoustic guitar to camp and a portion of the day will be spent learning to play the guitar or taking your current skill to a new level.

PHOTOGRAPHY - (GRADES 6–8)
Learn about light, composition, shutter speed, framing, and all the elements that go into taking great pictures. What better way to capture the beauty of nature? Campers must bring a digital camera.

HORSE CAMP
Want a true horse country experience?  Spend the week living in covered wagons and cooking out breakfast and lunch in a country-style shelter. Whether you're brand new or an experienced rider, you'll love Hamilton's unique horse programs. Campers are assigned riding groups by skill level. Boots with 3/4-inch heel and smooth sole are required for horse programs.

APPALOOSA (GRADES 6–8) - 0-2 years experience (will accomodate beginner skills)
Play games, trot, and ride in the corral and on the trails. Spend 1 1/2 to 2 hours per day learning the basics of fun and safe horse instruction. Ground classes focus on general care of your horse including grooming, saddling and feeding.

WRANGLER (GRADES 6–9) - 2 or more years of experience (intermediate horse skills)
Ride obstacle courses, improve balance at a trot and lope, and learn responsible and safe trail riding. Spend 2-3 hours daily riding, caring for and learning about horses. Ground classes focus on horse care, behavior and breeds.


  TATONKA
Carry a pack, make your own shelter, sleep in the out-of-doors for three nights—that’s only part of the fun of Tatanka. Two skilled counselors will lead ten Tatonka campers on a four-day expedition you won’t forget. Strengthen your camping skills, cook, hike to the top of Mt. Stohr, learn about nature and each other away from main camp on a four day expedition you won't forget.

TATONKA 1 - (GRADES 5-7)
A great introduction for younger campers who have not been on a Tatanka trip before.

TATONKA 2 - (GRADES 6-8)
This legendary original trip is open to those with or without outdoor experience.

These programs prepare participants for Nanamakee, CYO's teen expeditions. An equipment list will be sent with confirmation packages.

TATONKA EXPEDITIONS - (GRADES 6-8)
New this year!  Come join us for an adventure off site exploring the natural beauty of Western Washington.  Adventure and fun is sure to be found on these exciting trips.  Each trip leaves Camp Hamilton for a two nights.

Backpack Wild Sky Wilderness Tatanka 1 or previous backpacking experience required. Explore the newest federally designated wilderness in the state.  Quick friendships form as you leave civilization behind and enter God's country.  Put your camping skills to the test as you hike to and camp at an alpine lake.

Rock Climb Snoqualmie Pass Tatonka 1 or previous hiking experience recommended.  Reach new heights in this adrenaline pumping adventure.  Start off on our rock wall and learn basic climbing techniques with our knowledgeable staff.  Next, move-on to real rock with the help of expert guides.  Wrap up this trip with a day hike up a local peak.

ULTIMATE FRISBEE - (GRADES 6-8)
Come learn one of the fastest growing sports! Ultimate Frisbee combines all of the fun of soccer with the strategy of football. Experienced players will help coach you to play your best on our brand new field. Practice drills and scrimmage for 1-2 hours a day, while still enjoying all of the traditional camp activities.
