Simbang Gabi Commissioning Mass is an Archdiocesan Mass where a thousand Catholics throughout the Archdiocese gather to usher in the start of Simbang Gabi. Simbang Gabi is an Advent novena of nine Masses to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary as she prayerfully and joyfully anticipates the birth of Christ.

At this commissioning Mass, Archbishop Brunett blesses the Simbang Gabi parish coordinators and their parols (star lanterns symbolizing the light of Christ) and commissions them back to their parishes to share the joyful celebration of Simbang Gabi with their respective communities.
