CASE REVIEW BOARD
FINAL
REPORT - OCTOBER
2004
In the spring of 2003, Archbishop Alex Brunett created the Archdiocesan
Case Review Board consistent with the principles outlined in the Charter for
the Protection of Children and Young People (Dallas Charter) and the Essential
Norms for Diocesan/Eparchial Policies Dealing with Allegations of Sexual Abuse
of Minors by Priests or Deacons.
The Board was asked to review thirteen (13) cases. In four (4) of these
cases, the Board determined that there was insufficient evidence to support
the "probable nature" of the allegations of sexual molestation
of minors.
Of the remaining nine (9) cases, the Board found that there was sufficient
evidence gathered in the preliminary investigation to support the probable
nature (i.e., they are more likely to be true than not) of the allegations
that these priests were involved in the sexual abuse of one or more minors.
